Our Affilication: The Christian and Missionary Alliance When Lighthouse Christian Center began in 1991, we chose to be a part of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. The Alliance is simply a mainstream, evangelical denomination, similar to many denominations in America. We are a part of two groups:• The Pacific Northwest District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. This includes over one hundred churches in Washington and Oregon. • The Christian and Missionary Alliance General Council. In America, the denomination totals about 429,000 believers in 2,000 churches. In addition, the C&MA worldwide includes over 15,000 churches and three million adherents. In its articles of incorporation, the objectives of the C&MA are as follows: "The Christian and Missionary Alliance is committed to world missions, stressing the fullness of Christ in personal experience, building the Church, and preaching the gospel to the ends of the earth."
What are the advantages of affiliating with the C&MA? • It allows us to identify with other Christians around the world who are known for their commitment to the Bible. The C&MA has no man-made "creed." The Bible is our only authority. • It allows our church to participate in a great missionary organization. The C&MA currently has 800 missionaries in 50 nations and churches in 81 countries and territories. Through the C&MA missions program, we help support many of these missionaries. • It allows for accountability, and therefore safety for our church. Pastors are held accountable for their doctrinal and ethical positions.
