Getting Baptized at Lighthouse
Baptism Class (required for participating in Baptism services on September 25-26) Saturday Morning 10:00 a.m. September 18, 2010 Teachers: Pastor Brett Latin (adults), Kathy Howard (kids through age 12) :: register
Why should I be baptized by immersion?
- Because Jesus was baptized that way. We want to baptize the way they did in the Bible. It says, "As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water." (Matthew 3:16)
- Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion
- That's what the word means. The Greek word for baptize means to "dip under."
- It best symbolizes a burial and resurrection.
Who should be baptized and when?
- Every person who has believed in Christ should be baptized. Scripture says, "Those who believed and accepted His message were baptized." (Acts 2:41)
- When should you be baptized? As soon as you become a believer or as soon as you realize its importance.
What about Children?
- At Lighthouse, we wait until children are old enough to believe and understand what it means to invite Jesus into their heart.
- We ask parents to determine whether their younger children are ready for baptism.
