Parent Partners |
|
Parents, you are an important, vital, essential part of the
spiritual development of your children!
What an awesome opportunity God has given you to influence your children
both on earth and for eternity!
At Lighthouse, we believe one of the main functions of our
Children's Ministries is to support you in your role as the spiritual head of
your children. With that in mind, we ask one parent from every family with a
child aged infant to sixth grade to join us in ministering to your children by
becoming a Parent Partner.
Parent Partners serve once a month in children's ministries
either in one of the weekend services or mid-week in a support role. There are a variety of ways for you to serve
from helping in a classroom to greeting at a computer sign-in station to making
copies in our office mid-week.
You may be asking...
Do both parents have to serve monthly?
No, we ask for one parent from every family to serve
monthly. It could always be dad serving
or one month it could be dad and the next month mom.
Do I have to miss service when I serve?
Not necessarily! If
you serve mid-week, you won't miss a service.
Some of our weekend service roles take place before and after service,
allowing you to attend the majority of the service. And, if you do serve during a weekend service
you could always choose to attend another service that weekend.
What if my strength isn't working with children?
No problem! We have
various roles such as greeting, monitor, classroom cleaner, office help, etc.,
that have very little or no interaction with children.
Will people other than parents still be involved in Children's
Ministries?
Absolutely! We
welcome and are blessed by people in all walks of life who serve in Children's
Ministries.
Will parent volunteers be screened?
Yes. We will continue
to require all volunteers who work directly with children, including Parent
Partners, to fill out our Volunteer Application which includes permission to do
a background check. If a parent serves
in a capacity not directly hands-on with children, they may not be held to the
same screening standards as parents working with children.
How do I sign up?
For instructions on what to do next, visit the Parent Parent Partners Sign-Up Process . It will
take you about 15 minutes to read over some important information, fill out the
forms and let us know when and how you'd like to serve.
