Roger Schmidt, Congregational Care Pastor |
|

Five ways to describe him: Compassionate, Passionate,
Hardworking, and Faithful, with a heart of a Shepherd.
What He Does for Lighthouse:
After moving to Puyallup in 1989 Roger and his family joined Pastor Art
and the founding team to pioneer LCC. When the building was finished in 2002
and more help was needed in the ministry of Lighthouse, Roger was asked by the
Leadership Committee to begin to live-out his childhood calling of being a pastor. His pioneering spirit once again emerged and
he began setting up teams for Home Groups, Celebrate Recovery, men's
breakfasts, classes and retreats, TGIW, Benevolence committee, Senior Sages,
Divorce Care, Missions, etc. Because of
immediate growth factor, the new building needed a Fellowship Hall and Kitchen,
etc. and maintenance. He now hires ground and building maintence crews and
deals with on-going structural and design issues. As more Pastoral Staff has been added, he
presently functions as the head of the Support Ministries, Facilities
Management and meets with members going through emergency, physical, spiritual,
emotional and financial needs. As with
all of the pastors, he is available to network folks into the life of
Lighthouse to find their healing and ministry in the Lighthouse family.
Family Life: Roger met and married his wife, Connie, in 1972 (36 years
ago) while stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Viet Nam conflict. They have two grown children, Wendi and
Tim. (Both were part of the first youth
group of LCC). Tim lives in Seattle and
works as a Regional Sales Manager for a Fitness organization. Wendi is married to Scott and they are
Associate Pastors in Bremerton, WA along with their three sons, Sammy (4),
Tyler (2) and Owen (10 months).
His Previous Life: After the military, during his 17 years of living in
Hawaii, Roger went to University of Hawaii in Business Management while he was
an account manager for a property management firm in Honolulu where he managed
commercial and condominium properties for 12 new developments in Mililani,
Hawaii. He had his own construction
company; and then moved into industrial sales management. While working in the "market place",
innately (because of being the son of a Pastor) Roger enjoyed growing and being
mentored by many "greats" in the ministry world, as Honolulu is a hub for
various ministries and businesses in the South Pacific. The church he was involved in grew from a
membership of 200 to 3000 from 1972 - 1986 where he started as Youth Minister,
Head Life Group Leader, and maintaining parking and ushering with prayer
ministries in the parking lots and church foyer for four Sunday services. While on the Board of Directors, he was
involved in decisions re: the purchase of property and designing of a new
building for the growing congregation. In 1986 Roger and his family moved to
the mainland where he became the Western Regional Sales Manager of a Cleveland
based company and then joined a Seattle based Industrial Sales company in 1991
as a Sales/Project Manager until joining the Lighthouse staff in February of
2003.
Things you need to know about Roger:
He likes to landscape and garden for relaxation! He enjoys hiking and
talking with his best friend, his son, Tim.
He and Connie love being with "their boys" (grandsons) and their
parents. They take pleasure in working on home projects as time allows,
reading, but they feel most contented when "partnering in ministry". Being born and raised in New Mexico, Roger's
cowboy boots have taken him on many adventures, but the most fulfilling is
being on staff at Lighthouse Christian Center.
