MOPS is offered both during the day and the evening to better meet the needs of all moms.  If your children are past the preschool stage and you would like to connect with moms of older children, scroll down to MomsNext.

MOMSnext

MOMSnextMOMSnext is a ministry to mothers of school-age kids.  It is a new arm of MOPS International.  It is a very exciting, yet potential scary time to be on the frontlines of mothering and we at Lighthouse want to support all moms who have children in grades 1st-6th.  In raising school-age children, mothers need a lot of support.  We have said good-bye to the days of potty training, temper tantrums and sleepless nights and hello to the days of mood swings, homework issues, peer pressure and pre-teens!  UGH!  Yes, we believe that this group will meet the needs of many moms in our community.

MOMSnext meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of each month from 6:30-8:30 pm, beginning September 25th.  Children under the age of three are cared for in our nursery.  Children three years old and older have the opportunity to participate in the LCC AWANA program.  AWANA provides creative games, lessons in building Godly character, and Bible verse memorization.  A separate registration form is needed to join AWANA.

COST:  $90 fee to join MomsNext.  Fees can be paid in installments and scholarships are available.  We don't want anyone to miss out on MomsNext because of cost.

FAQs

How much does MOPS cost?

There is a $90 registration fee to MOPS International.  Payment can be made with one check or in payments.

I would really like to join MOPS but finances are tight right now, do you have scholarships available?

Yes, we have a few scholarships available. Simply express your need when you register.  We don't want anyone to miss out on MOPS because of cost.

MOPS sounds great, but can I check it out once before I join?

Sure, come anytime.

Is MOPS a Bible study?

No. While the teaching is based on biblical principles, the intent of MOPS is to present information of common interest to all mothers, regardless of their religious background. This is accomplished in a casual and fun manner with practical applications for everyone. We welcome all mothers of preschool children.

Is MOPS canceled if it snows?

We follow the Puyallup School District schedule.  Their website is www.puyallup.k12.wa.us or you can watch the news for updates.  If the school district is delayed or canceled then, unfortunately MOPS is canceled also.

My child is sick; can I still come to MOPS?

Yes. However, you need to find your own childcare.  We do not allow children who show signs of illness within the last 24 hours into the MOPPETS program.

What is MOPPETS?

MOPPETS is the children's program that meets concurrently with MOPS. The program is carefully planned to nurture and enhance social, creative and spiritual growth for children, ages infant through kindergarten.

What is AWANA?
If your child is 4 years to 6th grade they are invited to join AWANA for night MOPS.  Advanced registration is required for AWANAs as it fills up quickly.  Please contact Cyndi Zoolkoski for registration questions at 253-565-9501.  Check out their website at www.awana.org for more information on AWANAs.

What does a day at MOPS look like?

When you come to MOPS, you will drop off your child(ren) in their classroom for MOPPETS.  Each mom is assigned to a table with a table leader and a mentor mom.  There is time to eat, chat and bond followed by a speaker, discussing topics such as family, friendships, marriage, parenting, finances or health.  We often have a "Mommy Moment" where one of the moms will talk about something she has gone through, or a challenge she has faced, or a victory she has had.  Sometimes we have a funny skit followed by a craft, where you get to be creative and chat with the ladies at your table.

I loved the last craft we made, can I get extras?

If there are extras craft supplies available, you may purchase them.  Please contact your Creative Activities Leader for additional information.

I would love to get more involved, how can I help?

We would love your help!  There are many areas you can volunteer, such as crafts, hospitality, set up, clean up, child care, etc.  Please contact your MOPS coordinator to sign up.
