To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him? … It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in. … To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.

Living For No Other Gods

  • Compassion Over Contempt

"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."

(Matt. 9:36)

  • Take a Soul Census

"Search me, O God, and know my heart”

(Psalm 139:23-24)

  • Reorder Your Loves

“Every good and perfect gift is from above”

(James 1:17)

Prayerful Reflection:

Lord, what has been quietly competing for my trust, affection, or sense of security more than you in this season?

CLOSING BLESSING:

May the Lord lift your eyes above every lesser god, and free your heart from rival loves. May he give you compassion for those still searching, and courage to speak truth with gentleness.

May he search what is hidden within you, restore what is out of order, and teach your soul to trust him first.

May you honor the Giver above every gift, give thanks in all things, and walk in the freedom of wholehearted devotion.

And may the love of the Father, the grace of the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you now and always. Amen.
