Prayerful Reflection

  1. Talk to God honestly about how you view him as Judge. What is difficult for you to trust about his judgment and love?
  2. Ask God where he may be correcting or redirecting you right now—or where past discipline has become a gift.

Daniel 9:4-7

“Whenever we find that our religious life is making us feel that we are good—above all, that we are better than someone else—we may be sure that we are being acted on, not by God, but by the devil.”

C.S. Lewis

“In failing to confess, Lord, I would only hide You from myself, not myself from You.”

St. Augustine, Confessions

Closing Benediction

May you know the steadfast love of God, and trust His mercy more than your shame.

May you have courage to confess, and humility to receive correction.

May you resist the pride of Babylon, and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

May confession keep you soft, teachable, faithful, and free.

May the Father hold you in His love, the Son cover you in His mercy, and the Spirit lead you in truth.

Amen.
