The Heart of Wisdom

Scripture Focus: Proverbs 30:4-6

Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in his hands?
Who has bound up the waters in a cloak?
Who has established all the ends of the earth?
What is his name,
and what is the name of his son—if you know?
Every word of God is pure;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
Don’t add to his words,
or he will rebuke you, and you will be proved a liar.

Proverbs 30:4–6, CSB

Remember...

There is a God, and you're not Him...

Thesis:

The heart of wisdom values what God values, and lives accordingly.

Four values in Proverbs 30:

1. The heart of wisdom loves truth...

Proverbs 30:7-9
Psalm 51:6

...because God desires truth within.

2. The heart of wisdom treasures contentment...

Proverbs 30:7-9
Philippians 4:12-13

…because we are made to find our ultimate satisfaction in Christ.

3. The heart of wisdom honors others...

Proverbs 30:10
Romans 12:14-16

…because God so loved the whole world.

4. The heart of wisdom remains humble

1 Peter 5:5
Philippians 2:5-8

because Jesus exemplified humility.
