Remember the Sabbath
Scripture Focus
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
(Exodus 20:8-11)
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
(Matthew 11:28)

(Mark 1:11)

Put away unfinished work without guilt
Refuse productivity-based language (“I should be doing something”)

THE GIFT OF SABBATH
From Exhaustion and Anxiety to Delight and Peace
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
(James 1:17)
Simple Sabbath Practices
Take a slow walk without an agenda
Eat good food with people you love
Limit news, social media, and digital noise
Make space for worship, beauty, music, laughter, and creation
Ask: “What helps my soul become attentive to God’s goodness?”
Reflection Question:
What keeps you from resting in God?
CLOSING BLESSING;
May you go from this place remembering
that your life is not sustained by your striving,
but by the grace and faithfulness of God.
May the Lord teach your soul to rest—
to stop long enough to remember His goodness,
receive again His love,
and delight in the gifts He has placed around you.
May you be freed from the burden of proving yourself,
and reminded that in Christ
you are already known, welcomed, and loved.
And may the peace of God,
deeper than hurry, fear, and exhaustion,
guard your hearts and minds this week
as you learn to rest in Him.
Amen.
